Abstract

Performance appraisal and bonus payment are important components of human resource management that help organizations evaluate employee performance, recognize achievements, and enhance motivation. This study examines the effectiveness of performance appraisal systems and their relationship with bonus payment practices in organizations. The research aims to identify employee preferences regarding appraisal methods, assess their level of satisfaction with existing appraisal systems, and understand how performance-based rewards influence employee motivation and productivity. The study was conducted using a descriptive research design, and primary data were collected from 150 employees through a structured questionnaire employing rating scales and Likert scales. The findings indicate that most employees prefer appraisal systems that combine both qualitative and quantitative performance measures. A majority of respondents believe that performance appraisal helps identify strengths and weaknesses, supports promotion decisions, and provides opportunities for performance improvement. The study also reveals that employees expect fairness, transparency, and objectivity in appraisal and bonus payment processes. While many employees are satisfied with the current system, some respondents expressed dissatisfaction and indicated a willingness to seek better employment opportunities if appraisal and reward mechanisms are perceived as unfair. The study concludes that an effective performance appraisal and bonus payment system can significantly improve employee satisfaction, productivity, and organizational performance while promoting a positive work environment and long-term employee commitment.
